The tensions between the two nations in the last three weeks have culminated in an invasion of Ukraine, Tuesday, a major military development in geopolitics.

Early Tuesday, Russian troops advanced along the Ukrainian border, in a move to invade Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to invade Ukraine if the Eastern European nation decided to join NATO, therefore ensuring that fellow NATO nations would defend them, in following NATO Charter “Chapter 5.”

Despite the fact that Ukraine has not yet joined NATO, increased military presence from French, Canadian, Polish, and American armies in the region, has reportedly peeved leaders in Russia, as they see it as a threat. Thus, Russian President Vladimir Putin, on Monday, signed a decree that allowed for troops to enter the two regions for “peacekeeping.” The U.S. and E.U. said they would begin imposing limited sanctions as a reaction to the move, but it doesn't seem to be deterring Russia.

Now, Russia claims that due to those reactionary efforts by western nations, Russia has no choice but to invade, prompting this historic invasion. In coordinance, however, of NATO’s Charter “Chapter 5,” fellow allies of Ukraine are forced by the guidelines of NATO to defend Ukraine, which could ultimately lead to a continental crisis, which too could manifest itself into a larger worldwide crisis.
