In recent years, Americans' faith in the efficacy of vaccines has plummeted. Here’s why.

Dr. Robert Malone was virtually unheard of just weeks ago. Now, Malone is the topic of discussion amongst journalists, doctors, scientists, pundits, and regular account-holders disseminating both their gripes and gratitude with the researcher on Social Media, Monday. This all follows a viral interview Malone appeared on, alongside interviewer, Joe Rogan. Rogan has made a name for himself as a contentious podcaster, and commentator, but in recent months received further backlash from the left for propagating ideas of possible vaccine alternatives to mitigating the threat of COVID. One, in particular, Rogan suggested those who test positive or who want to avoid testing positive for coronavirus, ought to take Ivermectin, a commonly used treatment for infections caused by roundworms, threadworms, and other parasites, as a possible disrupter to the virus. In addition to that, Rogan questioned the efficacy of the coronavirus vaccine on multiple occasions in recent episodes, with ‘MIC’ a self-described “millennial oriented news site” calling Rogan a “dangerous, idiot.” Rogan represents a wider movement across the nation though. Over the last year, those who've raised doubts over the efficacy of the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson and Johnson vaccines, the three shots approved for the market by Federal agencies in early 2021, have been censored on Social Media, fact-checked by online news aggregators, and blasted for promoting “misinformation.” The problem though is that Dr. Malone has worked among Dr. Fauci, Dr.Birx, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, in delineating the “risks and rewards” of the coronavirus vaccines. In fact, Malone, the virologist, and immunologist that's work were directly responsible for the origination of the mRNA technology behind Covid vaccines, said on the show, that while he emplores those worried about the virus to take the shot, he says he is “concerned about how the technology is being developed and implemented,” along with claims that the research on effects of the vaccine on children is lacking, and that the CDC among other government departments suppressed information regarding the superiority of natural immunity to combating coronavirus, compared to a vaccine. The interview soon went viral, with excerpts from the interview, particularly the segment in which Malone claimed the government is using hypnosis-like tactics to trick the population into taking the vaccine, a concept he says is akin to “mass formation psychosis.” The claim he made regarding the alleged suppression of information regarding the superiority of natural immunity though, might be the most consequential. On Tuesday, the right-wing network responsible for some of the nations most infamous undercover syndicated journalism pieces, such as the public release of private CNN calls between CEO Jeff Zucker and his top aides, Project Veritas published hundreds of pages of documents, they say were Military documents about Gain of Function research that directly “contradict Fauci testimony under oath.” If the documents are legitimate Pentagon, DARPA, and EcoHealth Alliance research, this would mean that the US was well aware of the dangers of gain-of-function research, along with their funding for it. It would also conclude, that in fact, claims made during Dr. Fauci’s multiple testimonies under oath in the past two years before members of Congress, were in fact faulty, therefore violating the law by committing perjury and legal mendacity. Fauci will likely go unpenalized due to the intensified power-grab the left has achieved as an indirect result of his actions. The issues have been magnified, since Rock Musician and Canadian Singer, Neil Young threatened Spotify, the network that provides Joe Rogan with his platform for an estimated 11 million listeners, in an open letter, saying that Young would pull his 41 studio albums from Spotify if the network doesn't remove Rogan due to his “misinformation.” The network, in a uniquely ironic moment, removed Neil Young from the streaming service, after his ultimatum peeved Executives, according to sources. Conclusively though, the unprecedented suppression of individuals challenging the precedence is becoming more and more of an issue than ever. Twitter in just the last six months has suspended thousands of right-wing accounts and fact-checked millions over vaccine misinformation. While much of the claims made by these right-wing account holders are unfounded in science-based research, some of it is legitimate, and by silencing all of the right, alienates millions, and actually discourages those undecided on whether to take the vaccine. Rampant calls to censor prominent podcasters, influencers, and even scientists who had helped to develop the vaccine itself due to their concerns, are perhaps the most concerning issue of them all.
